In the Himalayas, pink salt was mined from the Khewra Salt Mine. Pink salt is hand-extracted and little processed, resulting in an unprocessed, additive-free product that is considered to be far more natural than table salt. Although both table salt and pink Himalayan salt are primarily sodium chloride, pink salt contains up to 84 minerals and trace elements. In fact, it's these minerals, particularly iron, that give it its distinctive pink hue.
